5 Tips For Easy Weight Loss

For many of us, trying to lose weight can be a difficult ordeal. It’s no surprise that so many people resort to drastic measures. But there are easy ways to get to your weight goal. Here are five of them.

1 Drink your water

My fitness journey started with a very small step. I didn’t immediately start a diet plan to lose weight or sign up for a gym membership. The first thing that I did was to drink more water. In fact, I completely stopped drinking any other beverages besides good old H2O.

This is because water is an especially essential compound that our body needs. Not only does it hydrate, but it also keeps the body functioning optimally. Water is needed to remove excess toxins from our body and it is also needed for cell repair. And there is one more reason why you should consider drinking more water if you want to lose a couple of pounds.

Water is great at filling you up when you’re hungry. Many people recommend drinking a glass of water before a meal so you avoid overeating and you feel fuller sooner. During the times when you feel like you’re famished and it’s not mealtime yet, drinking water is advisable rather than grabbing a snack that has no caloric benefits. 2 Think about what you eat

The number factor that affects weight loss is more than just the amount of food that we consume; it is the quality of food we eat. Even if you cut back on the number of meals you have in a day, if your meals comprise of junk and unhealthy food, you won’t achieve your weight goal.

Add healthy food items into your day to day diet. Put more thought into what you eat, giving more emphasis on vegetables and fruits. Try swapping out sweets with healthier snacks like grapes, cherries, or even nutritious nuts. Considering going for lean options when choosing meat. It’s generally a good idea to avoid fried foods, opting instead for grilled, smoked, or broiled food options.

Lastly, include fatty fish into your diet. Salmons, tuna, and blue marlin are a great source of fatty acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6 which are good fats and contribute to the overall health of the heart, as well as the rest of the body.

3 Sharing is loving

One of the struggles I faced when I was trying to lose weight was portion control. It’s fine when I eat at home and I could manage how much food I prepare for myself. But eating out can’t be avoided especially after work when you want to mingle with friends and co-workers. Many restaurants sometimes go overboard with each serving, making it harder to control how much you eat.

The times when I have to eat out, I find that sharing is a way to go. I voiced my concern with a few friends and I was surprised that many agreed with my opinion about the large portions. A lot of them were happy to share menu items. Now, I eat less when dining out and because I’m sharing, I get to sample more of the menu.

4 Stay active

Staying fit is not limited to the confines of a gym or studio. A nice walk around the neighborhood or to the grocery store instead of driving is a good way to incorporate activity into your daily life. Even morning walks with the dog can count as a daily activity.

To better adhere to your fitness goals, it’s always better to incorporate activities in your life. Instead of taking the car to work every day, how about doing it on a bike once or twice a week? Or including more stretches right after waking up is a great way to start the day.

By integrating activities that keep you moving and active, you lay the groundwork for a lifestyle that focuses more on health and wellness.

5 Making it fun

Working out shouldn’t be your penance for eating the food you love. This kind of mindset will only prevent you from keeping the weight off once you’ve achieved your weight goal. Being active should be a celebration of what your body can do.

With this in mind, why not vary your activities instead of sticking to a single one. If you do yoga one week, why not go dancing the next? Or if you go running one weekend, how about going for a couple of laps the next?

I always try to vary my activities to keep things interesting. When I bike commute to work one day, I always try to make it a point to try different routes and to appreciate the sceneries. After spending a couple of hours lifting weights in the gym, I make it a point to do gentle yoga the next day to give my body time to recover and relax.
